Run by biking lovers who know their stuff, they sell and repair and have specialized in touring bikes.
This is a place where they know their stuff. Bicitecla was born tiny and modest in 2005 in the Raval and a few years later moved to Gràcia, first to Santa Tecla Street and now to Bonavista Street. They sell, repair and maintain bicycles and specialise in urban and touring bicycles. Besides knowing everything there is to know about these kind of bicycles, they also build à la carte bikes and restore old cycles.
You will find all kinds of accessories, including the Brooks leather seats which are, according to connoisseurs, the best for long trips. But not everything in Bicitecla is about selling as they also have accessories to encourage local consumption: wicker baskets, crochet bags, racks to carry bags and packages for Brompton bicycles, or additional trendy design accessories from the Barcelona brand Coolsec.
If you go to this repair shop in Gràcia, Marzio, Lluís or Katy will assist you. Marzio and Lluís are mechanics and also sellers. Marzio, the manager, is Brazilian and passionate about bike traveling around the world. Lluís, another fan of long distance bike traveling, is also crazy about music and has just published his first novel, ‘No temas’. Katy is German and is responsible for the Bicitecla website and blog, where, amongst other things, you can follow the adventures of George Romo, a guy from Sants neighbourhood in Barcelona who began a trip around the world in October 2013 with the support of Velotraum and Bicitecla.
Quality service and passion for their work are the words that better describe this very special bike shop in Gràcia.
